The Short Bio
Dr. Maria DeBlassie is a native New Mexican mestiza and award-winning writer and educator living in the Land of Enchantment. She writes about everyday magic, ordinary gothic, and all things witchy. When she is not going about her bruja life, she's teaching classes about bodice rippers, modern mystics, and things that go bump in the night. She is forever looking for magic in her life and somehow always finding more than she thought was there. Find out more about Maria and conjuring everyday magic at www.mariadeblassie.com.
The Longer Story…
When she isn’t teaching, writing, or reading trashy novels, she’s practicing her kitchen witchery, concocting spells (um, recipes), whipping up potions (um, cocktails), and magical beauty products. That’s when she’s not in her garden communing with her plants and herbs or listening to the trees gossip and the stars whisper their wisdom. She can also be found drinking copious amounts of tea, collecting crystals, and consulting the tarot with her familiars, Smoke and Juniper. They are two very sensible black cats who can walk between worlds and aren’t afraid of ghosts or demons, which, she can tell you from experience, are VERY useful qualities to have in one’s familiars.
